Many people think that car insurance for woman is cheaper because they are ‘better drivers’ than men. However, contrary to popular belief, women are not ‘better drivers,’ they just generally make fewer, less expensive insurance claims than men. Claims by women are for minor bumps and scrapes as opposed to the more expensive claims submitted by their male counterparts.

Beyond the claim issue there is a few other reasons women get cheaper coverage. Women generally drive less miles per year than men, which also gets them a discounted rate. Also, women tend to drive more cautiously than men, resulting in fewer traffic tickets for them. So, women are not necessarily ‘better drivers,’ they are just ‘better customers’ to insurance companies because they are less likely to make an expensive claim.
